A simplified mathematical model of heat transfer process in double skin façade was presented in this paper. The effects of outside environmental parameters and dimension of façade on the temperature of interior and exterior façade were analyzed and calculated. The results show that the main factor affecting façade temperature is solar irradiance, the temperature of interior and exterior façade would be lowered by using glazing with low absorption coefficient to decrease the effect of solar irradiance on indoor environment. The temperature of interior and exterior façade could be lowered by increasing the depth of façade gap, but the effect of lowering temperature by increasing the gap deeply was not obvious. The research results of this paper will provide theoretical background for the design and popularized application of double skin façade.
