This paper takes an empirical research into the correlation between human resource management (HRM) practices and manufacturing performance in manufacturing companies in the world providing the universalistic perspective for practitioner and the academia as well. The empirical analysis is based on the data from the 2009 International Manufacturing Strategy Survey (IMSS), and factor analysis is to classify the 20 items of manufacturing performance and canonical correlation analysis to search for the relationship between HRM practices and manufacturing performance. In the end, the paper finds that some HRM practices are correlated with manufacturing performance, while some are not. Meanwhile, the paper analyzes the possible reasons of the result.
