Siemens recently introduced the latest version of its popular SGT6 - 5000F (formerly known as the W501F) gas turbine. This paper will describe the new features of the engine (F4) and give details of the operational experience of the first engine to go into operation at the Elk River Peaking Station. Since the merging of Siemens and Westinghouse Power Generation divisions in 1998, Siemens has been working on consolidating the best technology of the two companies. This latest engine combines the best technologies from Siemens and Westinghouse.
