ENHANCING PROTECTION AND RESILIENCE IN THE DAMS SECTOR

Due to new and evolving threats to the reliability and integrity of critical infrastructures, the risk profile facing the Dams Sector arises from multiple sources, including natural disasters (floods and earthquakes) and structural deficiencies (aging infrastructure), as well as deliberate aggressor actions (physical and cyber attacks). Therefore, the need to integrate protective and resilience measures into an overarching risk management framework is strongly recognized by Dams Sector partners in a manner that complements and supports existing infrastructure protection efforts, including public safety and operational resilience. To assist owners/operators in enhancing protection and resilience capabilities, the Dams Sector has developed a variety of reference documents and training tools.
