Unsaturated organic compounds (UC) - acetylene compounds, aldehydes and azo-methines were investigated as inhibitors of acid corrosion of iron. It was established that high protective properties of UC for steel corrosion are the consequences of their polymerization on the surface of the metal with the formation of hydrophobic film. On the basis of regularities of corrosion and electrochemical behaviour of UC their classification considering peculiarities of chemical transformations in corrosive medium is offered. The possibility for increasing the UC effectiveness of corrosion inhibition in acid medium is discussed.
