Radio polarization of RRAT J1819-1458

Rotating radio transients, although clearly part of the radio emitting neutron star family, have atypical properties. They emit pulses for only a very small fraction of the time and they seem to occupy a defined region in the P-P diagram, with their long periods and relatively high magnetic fields. We use polarization observations of the most prolific RRAT, J1819-1458 to identify similarities and differences with other characteristic populations in the P-P diagram, namely young (high E) pulsars, magnetars and the bulk of normal pulsars. We find that this RRAT mostly resembles normal, slow and low E pulsars. From the polarization average pulse profile we draw conclusions on the geometry of this source and measure its Faraday rotation measure.
