Production of tantalum (Ta) powder was studied by means ofinjection of tantalum chloride (TaCl_5) vapor into molten LiCl-KClcontaining molten metallic zinc (Zn). Production experiments werecarried out in the temperature range of 773~973 K, and the feedrate of TaCl_5 vapor was set at 42~180 mg·min~(-1) by preciselycontrolling the vapor pressure of TaCl_5 with an external heater. Asa result, purity of Ta powder product increased with increasingexperimental temperature. Although the purity of Ta powderobtained is almost independent of the injecting position of TaCl_5,the yield was high when TaCl_5 was injected inside molten Zn.
