An Industrial Power System Management for High-quality Uninterrupted Power Supply at Tata Steel

This paper describes an implementation of Power Systems Management to improve the power system reliability and productivity in a steel plant. The system assists the Electrical T&D department at Tata Steel with the following:1. Monitoring the critical loads and ensure power system security through dynamic fast load shed with1.1 Pre-established operating policies / contingencies1.2 Known constraint and existing demand supply condition2. Ensure most economic drawl of power in order to meet the forecasted load while taking into account a variety of constraint3. Efficient handling of emergency conditions and unscheduled events in order to:3.1 Prevent local disturbances from becoming widespread system blackout3.2 Restore the system to normal operating conditions as quickly as possible4. Remote substation monitoring and control to enhance the productivity and reliability.
