Stationary vs. semi-mobile crushing plant in comparison

Today, high efficiency and state of the art crushing systems are an essential part of the quarry in cement plants with most producers historically opting for a stationary system installed close to the cement plant. During the evaluation process for a new or updated crushing system, a complete econmic review should also consider erection and operating costs for the quarry in comparing both stationary and semi-mobile crushing plant options. The paper will present the various factors that were considered as part of a complete technical and economic review of two actual crushing systems. This includes a review of civil engineering requirements of a stationary crusher compared to a semi-mobile system installed on a pontoon-type base frame and takes into consideration long-term operating costs including truck logistics, as well as truck and road maintenance as the quarry expands.
