Chemical-looping combustion (CLC) is a promising technology to conciliate the contradiction between energy-saving situation and high-energy-consumption CO2 capture. The high costs and positive hazards of the metal oxide oxygen carriers to the environment are not conducive to the development of chemical-looping combustion systems in large scale. In this paper, the possibility of using calcium sulfate (CaSO4) oxygen carrier in the CLC system is investigated. The reactivity behavior in the reaction between CaSO4 and CO is also studied in this paper. The reaction was not only due to the reacting temperature but also affected by the partial pressure of CO in the reaction. If the partial pressure of CO is big enough, the release of SO2 can be eliminated fully even if the temperature is as high as 1000 oC. To the reaction, the values of activation energy, frequency factor and linear factor corresponding to 5 different heating rates are also calculated.
