The muzzle velocity is an important evaluation standard of weapons system performance. The measurement of muzzle velocity is great significance on the trajectory research. This paper presents a method of using photoelectric target detection, using the CPLD programmable logic devices and microprocessor CY7C68013 integrating USB2.0 interface technology to achieve muzzle velocity measurement. In the hardware, speed measurement circuit is embedded CPLD chip in the form of hardware description language. In this way, the system''s design flexibility and operational stability could be improved. Applying USB2.0 interface technology for data communication between the host PC and the client PC ensures high speed data transmission. In the software, the firmware program of CY7C68013 chip and the host PC application software are developed and the program running meets measurement accuracy and real time. Experimental results show that the system could capture the projectileȁ9;s induced signals and measure muzzle velocity accurately. The system has a high application value.
