Discrete cosine transform (DCT) is widely applied in various international coding standards. In this paper, an improved post-adding algorithm based on the radix-2 DCT algorithm is proposed. With the improved algorithm, the code size and real-time performance of the target code can be balanced to match various processor architectures. A configurable algorithm code generator using this method is also implemented, and result shows that it can significantly enhance the flexibility and reusage of the target code, thereby, applicable to various processor architecture.
