Cognitive Radio (CR) is viewed as a novel approach for improving the utilization of the radio electromagnetic spectrum. The radio spectrum is a scarce resource while wide spectral ranges are only rarely used. Spectrum Pooling enabling public access to these new spectral ranges without sacrificing the transmission quality of the actual license owners. However, in the Spectrum Pooling system, the interference between licensed user (LU) and rental user (RU) is severe in multipath wireless channel. In the paper, a CR system with LU and RU co-existing is constructed by Spectrum Pooling technique and a new algorithm for reducing intercarrier interference (ICI) is proposed to mitigate the mutual interference between LU and RU. Results show ICI of LU is improved by applying the algorithm.
