3Cr2W8V steel is first dealed with laser consolidation, then treated by QPQ salt-bath nitriding complex technology. The treated surface microstructure was analyzed by using JSM-6360LV type SEM. The hardness and wear-resistance were tested for both laser consolidation plus QPQ salt-bath nitriding complex technology and only QPQ salt-bath nitriding. The experimental results indicate that the 3Cr2W8V steel has good nitriding efficiency after laser consolidation and has higher nitriding layer, higher scratch hardness and wear resistance under the same conditions. The wear resistance can be significantly improved by using laser consolidation and nitriding complex surface treatment technology. The wear track treated by laser consolidation plus QPQ salt-bath nitriding complex technology is more narrow and more shallow than that only nitrided. Comparing with the untreated specimen, its scratch hardness enhances 15.6%, wear resistance enhances 47.9%. The die hardness, wear resistance and the life can be greatly increased by using the laser consolidation plus QPQ salt-bath nitriding complex technology.
