This paper experimentally investigates the strengtheningeffects of different types of GF sheets with different numbersof GF sheet layers. The failure modes of specimens changeafter strengthening with GF sheets. While shear-out failuresoccur on the whole thickness of PFRP members in nonstrengthenedspecimens, combine failures occur instrengthened specimens with shear-out failure in roving partsand bearing failures in CSM and GF sheets. GF sheets canincrease effectively the bolted connection strengths of PFRPmembers and the strengthening effects depend on the numbersof GF sheet plies. 2-ply GF sheets have better strengtheningeffects than 4-ply GF sheets if considering the strengtheningeffects per thickness unit.
