EXCHANGE OF OUTFITTING DATA BETWEEN TRIBON AND PDMS BASED ON NEUTRAL FORMATS

In the shipbuilding industry, different CAD systems are used for different specialty design work. We need to exchange data among these different CAD systems such as Tribon for hull structural design and PDMS for plant outfitting design. A drill ship is a combination of the under body hull structure and the top side plant where two sides should be well integrated. For data exchange, in fact, there are two approaches, the first one is direct way, and the other one is indirect way, which is based on a neutral format. It is better to use neutral format where the data specification is open to public and can be used by other CAD systems including the next generation CAD system. In this paper, we use indirect way and propose one method that selects “ISO 10303 - AP227: Process Plant Configuration” and “ISO 15926 - Industrial automation systems and integration - Integration of life-cycle data for process plants including oil and gas production facilities” to define the neutral formats to exchange data between Tribon and PDMS.
