COMPUTER AIDED RULE-BASED SCANTLING CALCULATIONS OF SHIP USING PROGRAMMING TOOLS

摘要

Efforts are being made in academia and ship-building industry to reduce the time spent on total ship building. Shipdesign is one of the phases of ship building which consumes considerable time.This paper aims at proposing a methodology for developing software for carrying out scantling calculations based onthe class society rules using various programming tools.The software helps ship designers in arriving at a final design quickly, which would otherwise be a tenuous taskbecause of its recurring nature. This paper explains the structure of the proposed software, and explains themechanism and ways to link different tools to develop software.
