Research on Protection of Disappearing Historic Districts: Renovation of Historic Districts in Suzhou, China

摘要

People should found a new city on the base of city's original characteristics; bring historical cities,buildings,good tradition and features into new city's foundation.According to the above analysis,a new Suzhou should be founded with distinct Chinese and its own characteristics,but not the false foreign devil.The new city should have old city's taste; a new city should be founded on the basis of the old one,as the old city is the best source spring for history,the premise of refreshing old cities is to respect old cities' culture and essential spirit,which is the basic principle of an old city's renovation.Suzhou has had its own history and culture for more than 2,500 years; they should derive nutrients from the history and accomplish their own characteristics.Old city's protection,not only does it protect an old tree,a traditional house or an honorific arch,but also the inner spirit of a city.The old city of Suzhou,which has experienced more than once disaster,can still build a new city with original appearance.It is stilt Suzhou,but not other places; this is the result of protection for true history and culture itself,it is also the function of cultural renascence.
