In this paper we used high speed recording to characterize segmented micro-scale air bubble generation in a T-junction and bubble transport in a serpentine micro-channel fabricated in a standard silicon wafer. The micro-device, shown in Fig. 1, has a cross-section area of 594×80 μm~2. Air and water were used as the gas and liquid, respectively. Mixtures of water-glycerol and water-Tween 20 were also used to obtain the effects of viscosity and surface tension.
