Two novel polyoxometalates containing rare earth element La and organic group 5-fluorouracil C4H4FN2O2K11La(PW11O39)2·18H2O (FLPW) and K26(C4H4FN2O2)8La(SiW11O39)4·10H2O (FLSW) were synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra, UV spectra and X-ray powder diffraction. The results indicate that the compound has the Keggin structure of heteropolyanion and the ring structure of 5-fluorouracil. With 5-fluorouracil for the positive control group, the ivtro cytotoxicity test of the compounds FLPW and FLSW were studied in human renal embryonic cell HEK293 by MTT method. The compound FLPW has lower toxicity in vitro than those of 5-Fu and FLSW with significant difference at low concentration.
