摘要

The passive support structure of the medial arch of the foot is a complex three dimensional amalgamation of small but highly detailed bones surrounded by a complex tight weave of ligamentous connective tissue. This structure preserves the shape of the foot and dissipates loads in day to day walking over a lifetime. Though the entirety of the structure is functionally important, there are several components under scrutiny due to their location, size, and prominent role in arch strength.
