(1) The esterification of cotton cellulose by POMA bonds phosphorus to cotton fabric, thus reducing the fabric's flaramability.(2) POMA is an effective flame retardant agent for cotton fleece. The cotton fleece treated with POMA at low concentrations (>2%) is able to achieve the CFR 1610 "Class I" standard.(3) The use of TEA as an additive modestly enhances the performance of POMA with no significant changes in fabric physical properties.
