Aircraft manufacturers, maintenance service providers, and airline operators have recentlystarted to use ultrasonic phased-array technology to ensure the quality of their composite partsduring maintenance and manufacturing. Olympus NDT has developed various solutions with itsphased-array instruments like the OmniScan~(?) PA, the Focus LT~(?) and TomoView~(?) to meetthe most demanding requirements. Phased-array probes and holders were specifically designedfor the inspection of composite flat panels and corners. These tools combined with compositespecific software features provide greater productivity while maintaining a high degree ofreliability. This paper summarizes the advantages and the benefits obtained by the use of thistechnology.
