It's been more than 15 years since EAM was first introduced to mainland China to improve the power plant management. And recent years has witnessed the even faster-paced development since EAM has been widely accepted by asset-intensive industries as a critical and beneficial opportunity to improve their asset management and enhance core competitiveness in the global market.However promising and attractive the benefits EAM could generate, the failure rate of EAM implementation is surprisingly high, even up to 70% in China. The successful implementation of EAM seems, to many enterprises' management, still to be a goal too high to achieve. The management and research all over the world are urgently looking at this problem.This paper will look into some issues frequently encountered in EAM implementation through a case study in an H Mill in steel industry. A new implementation model is proposed and discussed. Pragmatic solutions are presented to tackle some of the problems.
