Monitoring Railway Bridges under Rolling Stock Conditions –A New Tool for Construction Supervisors

High safety standards are set for railway bridges. In complicated cases the design criteria have to beverified by experimental results. Examples of such cases are new structural systems which go beyondestablished design rules, temporary bridges in a row or difficult foundation conditions. Here, reliablemonitoring and control systems under rolling stock conditions are required and are a must forconstruction supervisors. Different monitoring systems are presented in the article and recentapplications of these systems are shown.
