In order to apply perovskite-type oxide as a heterogeneous catalyst for the catalytic wet aerobic oxidation of lignin, the perovskit-type oxide LaBO3 (B=Fe,Co,Mn) catalysts were prepared by the sol-gel method. The structure, surface specis ,reducibility and specific surface aera of catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), temperature programmed reduction (TPR) of H2 and N2 adsorption techniques. The catalysts were used for wet oxidation of iignin to aromatic aldehydes. It shows high activity, compared with non-catalyst process, lignin conversion and yield of each aromatic aldehydes were up significantly, while the yield of syringaldehyde was much higher than that of vanillin and p-hydroxybenzaldehyde. The following activity scale was found : LaCoO3 > LaMnO3 > LaFeO3.
