We report our experimental system for light-addressed stimulation (LAS) and simultaneous Ca2+ imaging,and some results of stimulation experiments.This setup provides stimulation and measurement of cultured neurons on the electrode substrate with a single-cell spatial resolution.The resolution of LAS was experimentally estimated at 10 μm.The characterization of LAS-evoked neuronal responses with this setup revealed that the major driving forces of evoked responses were antidromic excitation and subsequent synaptic transmission.
