First a new method was proposed to obtain the stable aqueous solutions of cyclodextrin-phthalocyanine conjugate using the covalent linkage,which was synthesized with ethylenediamine modified cyclodextrin derivatives and the carboxyl group cobalt phthalocyanine derivatives in the presence of dicyclhexylcartodimide and confirmed by FT-IR,1H NMR,UV-vis and AAS spectroscopy.Then the conjugate was grafted onto the cellulose fiber by epichlorohydrin in an alkaline solution,the inclusion ability of grafted fiber was investigated by UV-vis with phenolphthalein as a guest and the catalytic oxidation was tested by using p-nitrophenol as example.The results showed that the grafted fiber kept the original characterization of cyclodextrin and phthalocyanine and can include/catalytic p-nitrophenol,which suggested that it is possible to design and synthesize the novel functional materials for water treatment.
