Compared with ordinary natural gas, coalbed methane (CBM) usually has more impurities, and this makes the liquefaction process different.The liquefaction process of nitrogen expansion with propane precooling is discussed in this paper, which is suitable for small liquefaction plants. The unit product liquefaction power consumption is taken as the major index for analysis. By means of computation and HYSYS simulation, the effect of nitrogen content to the liquefaction process is then studied when liquefaction rate and methane recovery rate are fixed respectively. Finally, on the basis of previous analysis, an integrated CBM nitrogen expansion liquefaction process with propane precooling is proposed with HYSYS simulation analysis.
