An Experimental Apparatus for Testing Characteristics of Stirling Cycle Regenerator under Oscillating Flow and Acoustic Effect
In this paper an experimental apparatus is developed to investigate the active characteristics and scaling design of a Stirling cycle regenerator under oscillating flow and acoustic effect. A linear compressor provides an oscillating flow with variable frequency and acoustic amplitude. A regulated temperature difference across the regenerator and an acoustic load are provided to maintain the Stirling engine operation. An instrumental system is established for the dynamic signal measurements. The experimental methods and similarity parameters are presented for testing the regenerator characteristics and scaling design and thus optimization.
