The history of accident and supervision transition of boiler in China was reviewed, and the present status of boiler was introduced. Based on the above, accident causes were analyzed. A new idea about boiler supervision based on major hazard installations is brought forward, and boiler parameters being used to identify major hazard installations are analyzed and contrasted. In order to quantify the explosion energy of thermal state of boiler, explosion energy model being used to identify major hazard installations was rebuilt. At the same time, the peak overpressure of shock wave front of boiler explosion, and the damage probability model of boiler explosion are summarized. At last, identification criteria of the boiler based on major hazard installations are achieved. Of course, considered feasibility and operability of the identification criteria, supervision share of boiler is also one of the factors to influence the identification criterion.
