The economic and social changes experienced by developing countries are leading to major restructuring in the distribution of the population. The increasing concentration of the population in urban areas creates new problems for mapping makers. The rapid growing of population leads to live in irregular housing, with inadequate infrastructure and services and poor environment. So, producing and updating large scale maps for these areas are very essential taken into consideration achieved accuracy, time and cost of the produced maps. In this study, Kafr Az-Zayyat test field which has a flat topography is chosen as a test area. The test study area was covered with standard ortho-ready panchromatic QuickBird images 0.6 meter resolution, large scale topographic maps produced from stereo aerial photos, ground control points (GCPs) and check points. Orthorectification of images will be done based on rational polynomial coefficients model RPCs approach and the resulting RMSE on the CPs will be evaluated. In the frame work, evaluation of qualitative analysis of data extraction from panchromatic imagery will be done. 1:2500 scale topographic maps have been used as a reference data for data extraction analysis and manual on-screen digitizing method. The cost and time consuming for the producing maps will be also discussed.
