Use of Geographical Information System (GIS) in developing an Intelligent Transport System (ITS)

摘要

The purpose of this paper is to explore the possibilities of developing an Intelligent Transport System using the resources of Geographical Information System and Spatial Information System. Following a substantial literature review of the current practice and academic research in the transportation application field, the author is capitalizing on good accumulation of research materials available at different sources around the world. The objective of this paper is to introduce a research trend in this area and developments that have already taken place as well as identify the niche areas that could be explored for further research.
