Reconfigurabie antennas can improve the performance of a wireless network in many ways, such as steering the beam of an antenna away from noise sources and increasing the capacity of a multiple-input multiple-output network. This paper discusses two methods of analysis of the behavior of a pattern reconfigurabie stacked patch antenna. First, a parametric study is pursued to determine the effect of each variable in the antenna structure. Second, an in-depth analysis of the electric field behavior is discussed. Each method offers insight into the mechanism of beamsteering in the antenna structure.
