Portable device to extract resistive component of the metal oxide surge arrester leakage current

In practical applications of surge arrester degradation monitoring, an extraction method is usually required to extract the resistive component from the total measured leakage current. This paper describe the actual steps involved in the resistive current waveshape-based method and implement the method using programs in Matlab as well as LabView. The LabView-based developed method promises a simplified metal-oxide surge arrester monitoring of resistive leakage current since the program is ready to be implemented in a portable device.
