This paper introduces the structural design and technical characteristics of four long span heavy loaded high speed bridges under design/construction in China, of which the two across the Yangtze River in Nanjing City and Wuhan City respectively are under construction and the other two locate at mountainous area of Southwest China and Estuary of Yangtze River in East China under design. The Yangtze River Bridge in Nanjing is the largest steel arch truss bridge and the one in Wuhan has the largest span among steel truss cable-stayed bridges in the world. Both of the two railway bridges under design carry double-line railways, they are continuous twin suspension bridge and deck type steel arch truss bridge respectively. The design standard of railway live load, and development and prospect of railway bridges in China are also introduced briefly.
