A highly birefringent polarization maintaining photonic crystal fiber based on organic macromolecule polymer material was fabricated. The fiber has an elliptical core and three ring square hexagonal structure, with the average hole-diameter, d=2.5μm, and d/Λ=0.4. Polarization properties such as birefringence, beat length, polarization mode field were measured and numerically simulated. This research shows it is possible to fabricate high birefringence polarization maintaining photonic crystal fiber based on polymer at visible wavelength.
