System Approach to Land Use Sustainability (SALUS) program is designed to model continuous crop, soil, water and n utrient conditions under different management strategies for multiple ye ars. These stra tegies m ay have various c rop rotations, planting dates, plant populations, irrigation and fertili zer applications, and tillage regimes. By si mulating different strategies we can com pare their ef fects on crops and soil under the same weather sequences. SALUS is a point-based m odel, thus the objectiv e of our work is to develop an integrated system on the worldwide web with GIS capabilities to assess the sustainability of a land use and to support the decision making process regarding in an environm ental system.SALUS-WEBGIS can assist decision m akers through the understanding of the effects that land management practices and different land uses will have on the environment over space and time. SALUS-WEBGIS is based on the ESRI ArcGIS Se rver platform. We use ArcObjects to build this web application that run on the ArcGIS server.
