Segmented Long Stator Permanent Magnet Linear Motors forming a carriage way is a viable alternative for material handling systems in the industry. This kind of motor presents some drawbacks for the control like cogging force, force weakening on the transition areas, and saturation. This paper present a comparison between field oriented control and indirect stator flux control using 3-D look up tables as feed forward quantities obtained by Finite Element Models. Experimental results are shown.
