A proposal of an algorithm for DES applications in IC cards

摘要

As DES is well known and widely used, modifying its existingdesign (K.H. Mundt and H. Eichel, 1992; H. Bonnenberg et al., 1991) isneeded to increase its security protection level. A specifiedcryptographic module is needed in IC cards, since the popularity oftheir applications is associated with security problems. The proposedalgorithm has increased the complexity of cryptanalysis and introduced anew mechanism for key management to be used in IC card systems. Due tothe simplicity of the illustrated working mechanism, it can be easilyimplemented in an IC card
