LOW COST CCTV

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) is a useful tool for managing the interurban highway network. It allows control room operators to assess and provide an appropriate response to incidents and events on the highway. Until now it has been expensive to provide adequate CCTV coverage of the network. This paper seeks to address this by presenting the output of a study undertaken for the UK Highways Agency to improve the business case for CCTV. The ongoing study is investigating and trialling options for reducing the cost of implementing individual sites. The study will provide guidance on how to identify and implement CCTV at lower cost.
