The solidification behavior of Cu-Pb immiscible alloys was investigated under 12T magnetic field. The experimental results showed that the effect of high magnetic field is remarkable: for Cu-40wt%Pb alloy, a much longer, regularly aligned rod-like Pb-rich phase was formed in the centre of the sample; For Cu-80wt%Pb alloy, the morphology of the Cu-rich phase becomes spherical shape which is classified into three types, and its macrostructure under 12T magnetic field are similar to that obtained under relatively fast cooling rate. The suppression effect of high magnetic field on the motion of second-phase droplets and the melt flow in the solidifying front is considered to be the reason of these results.
