Application of Nano-sol on the Anti-pilling Performance of Wool Fabrics

Nano-sol was used in the anti-pilling finishing of wool fabrics. The effect of different surface modification of wool fabric on anti-pilling property was examined. Also, the effect of nano-sol and the promotion agent on anti-pilling was studied. A new finish process to achieve both well fabric handle and anti-pilling property was developed, and the process procedure and the recipe were optimized in order to meet the requirements of industry. The surface morphological structure of treated fabric was examined with SEM technique, and the reasons for wool fabric pilling and the mechanism of anti-pilling were preliminarily investigate by SEM and FTIR-ATR analysis techniques. The results show that the anti-pilling property of wool fabric is improved with an increase in pilling rating from 2 to 3. 5 via using this process. Meanwhile, the excellent handle is kept and well fastness against washing is obtained.
