Ethnic Minority's turnover practice in mixed-use environment its effect on multiethnic interaction-Ethnic Minority residing in Wanchai, Hong Kong as case studies (2)

摘要

In this paper, we explained usage composition of MxB and the specific tenure system combined to retard informal contacts between existing long term occupants with short term occupants, in particular retarding multiethnic interaction of EM who have frequent turnover practices. The environment of an MxB was considered as "atmosphere" composed by occupants and people involved in various activities inside. These environmental aspects affect neighbours interaction among the multiethnic occupants through the introduction of various people into the building, making new arrival occupants difficult to be identified and approached by existing occupants, thus hindering EM's neighbour interaction.
