Wide-Angle X-ray Diffraction (WAXD) is widely used for characterization of crystal structure, crystallinity, crystal size and crystal orientation. Amorphous orientation in some cases is particularly important, such as, in case of elastomer. The evaluation of amorphous orientation can also be made with WAXD, and this measurement is very convenient when an area detector is used. In the present work, amorphous orientation is quantitatively evaluated with a new approach by WAXD. The quantitative evaluation can apply to both amorphous and semi crystalline polymers. The amorphous orientation values obtained with this method can be directly compared with the values obtained with Raman Spectroscopy, and our comparative study shows that the amorphous orientation obtained with the two techniques are in a good agreement.
