The Robotics Research Group (RRG) at TheUniversity of Texas is investigating highprecisionCartesian metrology for DOEautomation needs [1] using a newly availabletechnology: a robust, affordable indoor GlobalPosition System (iGPS) capable of submillimeteraccuracy in large spaces at 40Hz. [2]Applications benefiting from high-precisionmetrology are:1. Mobile System transport of hazardous,irreplaceable payloads for security and safety.2. Industrial Robot Modeling for precisionapplications (i.e. machining and inspection).
