The system of ice-making by spraying water in winter and utilizing the ice in spring economizes the first cost, operating cost, pollution-free and reduces the peak of electric power, which compares with the mechanical refrigeration system. Through establishing the energy equilibrium equation of water droplet sprayed, relation between the diameter of water droplet and the time of icing at different outdoor temperature and coefficient of performance (COP) of the system of ice-making by spraying water were obtained. The errors between the numerical solution and the experimental data lie in a range of 7% to 10%, indicating that the model is reasonable. The results show that COP of the system of ice-making by spraying water is 81,when the outdoor temperature is -5°C, and COP is 209, when the outdoor temperature is -20°C. The system of ice-making by spraying water saves the first investment cost by 62.5% and energy by75%, comparing with the mechanical refrigeration system. Therefore, the method of the ice making is promising in the exercisable region to substitute the mechanical refrigeration system.
