Unrepeatered transmission over 300km non-zero dispersion-shifted fiber with bi-directionally pumped Raman amplification

We have demonstrated the unrepeatered transmission of 20/spl times/10.66Gbit/s over 300km non-zero dispersion-shifted fiber with conventional NRZ modulation format by using bi-directionally pumped Raman amplification, as opposed to hybrid fiber types or remotely pumped EDF.
