SCALE UP OF A COATING PROCESS

When you scale up a process for coating, from the lab bench to manufacturing, there are manypotential pitfalls. The problems can come from many sources. Among them are: the coating fluidsand variability in the bat batches of their raw materials, the variations in the manufacturers lots ofches chosen substrate and the interactions of the fluid and substrate in subsequent coating application.We will discuss how all these components interact when moving from a static draw d down ownapplication and batch oven drying to a dynamic applicator system, dryer, and web handlingoperation.
