This paper is the continuation of the previous one (Part 1). Firstly, the cooling effects of building shade in different building arrangements are investigated by focusing on the distributions of surface temperature and MRT (mean radiation temperature) at 1.5m. Then, based on the combined effects of urban ventilation and sun-shading, the optimal building arrangements in Guangzhou and Sendai (shown in Fig. 1) are determined.
